Fragmented Venus (de Milo) I & II

The body parts are cast from the inside of a cheap inflatable sexdoll, crudely connected with a wooden armature reminiscent of fragmented sculptures of antiquity, where the poles that connect broken pieces become more interesting than the statues themselves.

​

The piece is modelled on the Venus de Milo, a greek statue widely considered as the pin-up of the classical world. She was the physical target of the first ever recorded and analysed case of Agalmatophilia (where a gardener was caught trying to copulate with a replica of the statue).

The plaster faithfully replicates the manufactured texture of the plastic sex doll complete with seams, folds and an air valve, whilst maintaining a contrasting archaic aesthetic
